PERSONALITY , fun-loving, caring, attentive, sweet, intelligent, kind, jokester, unfocused, curious, secretive, stubborn.
DISTINGUISHING MARKS , Small scar on hip from bone marrow biopsies; small scar on shoulder from the Hickman line. No tattoos, but ears are pierced. (Earrings rarely worn, though.)
FLAWS , She has problems focusing, and can't really stick to paying attention to one thing for very long. She also has a tendency to be untruthful, especially about her past when people ask about it. She also has a very hard time taking things seriously.
BEST MEMORY , Finally being allowed to go to public school, her first day of freshman year. Being able to interact with people that weren't her family was just what she needed to feel like herself again.
WORST MEMORY , Every relapse was a progressively worse diagnosis to hear. Collectively, they are all her worst memory. Every single time she went into the hospital for treatment, every time the treatment made her sick.
HISTORY , "Obviously, I don't remember how I came to be, so whatever I tell you is strictly what I've been told, observed, or assume. Anyway, when I came along, I already had an older brother, Caleb, who was two when I was born. But I wasn't alone. I came into this world with two extra parts. Lucas, Alyssa and I are a set of triplets that our parents definitely weren't expecting. But they were happy nonetheless. But the happiness didn't last. See, we were early by several weeks, and spent a lot of time in the NICU. Some time in the first couple weeks, Alyssa got an infection that managed to destroy her tiny body in a matter of hours. I never got to meet my triplet sister. Lucas and I got bigger and stronger and eventually came home healthy children, quickly catching up to the normal milestones for children our age. Our parents had no reason to expect anything other than perfectly healthy kids. After all, Caleb was perfectly healthy, not to mention excited to have younger siblings; and we met their healthy expectations- for a while. When Lucas and I were one and a half years old, Mom and Dad must have lost their minds, because they discovered Mom was expecting again. Jenna was born just a week after my second birthday, a healthy baby girl. They brought her home from the hospital, and we were all excited. Or, at least, I remember being excited because there was another girl in the house and at the time I wanted to have tea parties and such. Anyway, all was well for about a month after that, until the first time I got sick. First time out of many. One day, mom noticed that I wasn't doing as much as I used to. I wasn't running around as much or being as energetic. I slept a lot. On top of that, there was a bruise on my leg that just wouldn't go away. I was no stranger to bruises, but this was was lasting a long time. I had gotten it on my birthday, when I fell off the slide at the park, so at this point it had been around for a month and a half. Mom scheduled a doctor appointment, thinking it was probably something silly that would go away with a round of antibiotics. What the doctor found was worse than any scenario she could have come up with. They said I had leukemia- acute promyelocytic leukemia, to be more exact. They started a Hickman line a few days later, and a couple days after that, I began my first round of treatment. It ended when I was about 3 years old, and I was in remission for almost a year and a half after that. Just before starting kindergarten, I relapsed. This time, they decided that I needed cells, that kind of thing, from someone else if treatment was going to work. They tested everyone in the family- Mom, Dad, Caleb, Lucas, and Jenna- and the only one who was a good enough match was Jenna. They ended up taking blood and platelets from her to give them to me whenever I needed. I was six and a half this time before I went into remission again. The pattern repeated itself twice more- I'd relapse, get treatment that usually involved Jenna getting something taken out of her, and go into remission for between a couple months to a year and then do it all over again. I've had two bone marrow transplants, and after the second one- when I was 13- that was the last time I was in the hospital, besides for routine check-ups. By some miracle, I have now been relatively healthy for three years. I'm cautiously optimistic, but I also know what I'll do if it happens all over again- nothing. Nothing at all. I'm tired of needles and doctors and not looking normal. I'm tired of Mom obsessing over my health, and Jenna getting hurt just to have some slim chance at saving my life. This thing wants to kill me, and I say if it comes back around, let it."
